Better English Supplementary Teaching (BEST) Programme - Myanmar
Using our Hong Kong projects as a base, and after eighteen months of research and planning in Yangon and Mandalay, we launched our Myanmar programmes in 2015. With two Mandalay-area schools and over 1,000 students now in our cluster, as of the 2020-21 academic year we will extend our reach to two additional schools in the Sagaing Division.
The BEST Myanmar programme aims to improve English language learning and teaching to underprivileged students, enhancing their academic performance and long-term employment opportunities. BEST also augments local English-language teaching capacity through teacher mentoring and training. Sprouts' team now includes four English-language "BEST programme" teachers, serving students and their teachers in grades 1-8.
Our BEST teachers offer enhanced English lessons adapted from the local Myanmar curriculum as well as our experience in Hong Kong, but set within the context of the classroom and educational requirements in Myanmar. Each class receives English-language teaching led by BEST teachers with the assistance of existing local teachers. As in Hong Kong, evaluations are carried out regularly to monitor progress and effectiveness of our programme.
Over the long-term, BEST intends to collaborate with relevant education authorities to promote more effective English teaching methods and curriculum enhancements, which can be applied to all low-resourced schools in Myanmar.
We are currently recruiting teachers and a curriculum director. If you are interested please send us a CV and contact us at: email@example.com
